Is Scar and Striae camouflage suitable for you?

You can use scar camouflage tattooing if you have the following conditions:

  • The Scar must be ONLY Hypopigmented (WHITE color).
  • The Scar must be at least 8-12 months old and Light color.
  • If your scar still remains Hyperpigmented (DARK color) after 12-16 months- it means that the blood flow got trapped in the fibrous tissue. In this case few Needling sessions can help to get rid of the darkness. Also certain treatments can be provided by the surgeon that we can refer you to.

The risk is usually greater with darker skin tones. But it can be improved with non-tattoo medical treatments such as lasers, sclerotherapy, cortisone shots, or chemical peels.

Right after procedure

  • Use antiseptic 3 times a day to keep the area clean;
  • It is normal if the treated area itches – it means that the pigment is stabilizing in skin ( if itches use thermal water VICHI to receive discomfort);
  • Use “bepanthol” for the next 10-12 days post procedure;
  • No sun exposure for 40 days;
  • The color will lighter within 40 days naturally.

Realistic expectations from this procedure

Camouflage tattooing will improve the differences of the color of your skin but it DOES NOT erase a scar or anomaly. This procedure helps to disguise the injured area of your skin so that it becomes less noticeable.

If you spend a lot of time outdoors, monitor if the skin color surrounding treated area does not match and adjust your lifestyle if you decide to use this kind of procedure.

A scar camouflage tattoo will not be a “perfect” match to the surrounding skin color. This is due to the constant changes in skin tones from blood flow, body temperature, and tanning. The pigment in the tattoo will not darken if it is exposed to sunlight or tanning booths, so the tattoo may appear lighter if the surrounding skin tans.

At the time it is applied, the tattoo color is matched to the surrounding tanned skin. It may appear darker once the surrounding tanned skin fades. Therefore, if you spend time outdoors, you will need to adjust your lifestyle or decide to match the tattoo to “winter” or “summer” skin and live with the changes in between.

Do not expect results too soon

Camouflage re-pigmentation is a process that takes time. Your patience and time are indispensable in it. It is not always possible to predict if a scar or damaged part of it will absorb pigment or reject it.

After the procedure, the treated part of your skin will remain red and raised for several weeks usually 35-40 days and then it will show the healed color. Healing process takes longer on DARK SKIN.

Scar and striae camouflage is a multi-session process

You can achieve very good results after the first tattooing session, but the nature of most scars and skin abnormalities is variable and sometimes second, third, fourth and fifth sessions are needed for the final results.

During each session your specialist will modify and enhance the color formula and the technique of treatment. The sessions should have from 6 to 8 week intervals to permit your skin to heal and stabilize the color.

Vitiligo

Vitiligo is a condition in which the skin loses its pigment cells and changes. It is a long-term condition and those that have it, experience white patches that appear on the skin, caused by a lack of melanin. In autoimmune conditions, the immune system does not work properly. Instead of attacking foreign cells, our immune system attacks your body's healthy cells and tissue.
